This could be an endless list of music. Essentially, it is an intensely personal choice as to what we enjoy listening to as it depends so much on what we are doing and at what stage we are at in our lives. Hearing music from our childhood can evoke powerful memories and a particular song can mean so many different things to different people.

We suggest that this section of music can be used as an end to a learning experience, to celebrate achievements and successes. Here are some suggestions.

It is best to develop a range of different materials to suit the mood and individual needs of the environment in which you are learning or teaching. Be prepared to experiment and take some risks, particularly with music that might be different from what you would normally listen to. Persistence is the key.

If you are a teacher and are prepared to give this a try then don’t give up at the first ‘technical hitch’ or complaint. Talk to colleagues and see if they have tried something that works.

If you are a student or a parent, then think about asking if music can be played in the classroom. If you are using it at home then try the different pieces of music in each section.
